Early!

For once a contractor was early.... Yes, I know.... E-A-R-L-Y!!!!

1.5 hours early!

With no phone call.....

Which meant the girls and I were still asleep.... In PJ's..... Nothing brushed....

*L*

So I rush around this morning pulling clothes off my floor (how long has that shirt been in that spot??? Humm.... *L*) and run the the door....

After yelling to the contractor he happily came in (with my apologies for the state of our house -we're moving things from downstairs to up to finish the basement thing- and the state of myself....)...

Less then 30 min's later the drawer face on Emma's side of the bathroom was replaced with another and everyone was happy.

What made me giggle? Emma had to approve it before he left!

This (past) weekend...

So Friday Tyler and Conor left for their surprise weekend getaway to....

How cool is that??! Tyler walked in last Friday and announced that he had been laid off, to which I announced I had this trip already booked for him and that he must go! *L*

So he did! But before that he bought his brand new laptop (thank you severance pay and taxes!) which was part of our prep for him to leave for months at a time anyways....

Last night the girls and I were able to Skype with him! Yay!

This past Friday I received a phone call from our builder informing me that they'll be here 9am Wednesday to fix our basement wall (build a frame and insulate it for the sound proofing).... Then he told me that they need at least 8ft to work in from the wall out... HA, HA, HA... Oh goodness! Our garage isn't built yet so our basement is storage. And because I run the Dayhome the back half of our basement is floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall boxes and our desk area set-up against said wall with boxes all over it.

*ahem*

So I made the decision not to tell Tyler so he could enjoy his last weekend away before heading to the camps for months on end.....

My plan? To work my butt off this weekend going through every single box down there and clearing it all out. Why not?

What happened?

Emma missed Thursday and Friday of school because of a fever and illness. Then Zoë woke up Saturday ill with the exact same thing. Last night I was up with Zoë until 3am.

Uggggghhhhhhh!

So here I am today rushing around to go through all the boxes and somehow figure out how I'm to lug all of our furniture and such (there's absolutely no way I can move our entertainment center -the TV alone I can't move!- in case Tyler is in the field up north starting Tuesday morning).....

As of right now I know the guys are having a blast in Calgary! Yay! Exactly what I wanted for Tyler... A weekend of no stress! He so, so deserves this.

Anyhoo.... I have two little girls watching The Backyardigans on my bed while I'm in the basement in boxville. I'll take photos!

I suppose I should get back at it... *sigh*

p.s.

While speaking with the builder he said that Tyler had asked for a couple of days notice for this... Cool..... When I said that he wouldn't be here to help he said 'Well at least you have the weekend! That'll help!'....

Yessssss.......

Uplifting Sadness....

Friday, April 17th Tyler was laid off of work.

This has consumed my life... I have a two day reaction time to most things in my life (pain, tiredness, etc.) and this seems to be kicking in now. We were ready though in the way of having a 'next step' planned.

He will place his name to be sent to the field.

Not horrible but who knows what schedule he may have. And he will have to live there while working.

Which means harder times at home (my girls have been testing a lot lately with me.... Emma especially)....

I know this has happened for a reason. The field was in our five year plan anyways... It's just come a little sooner then we had hoped.

In other news:

Saturday, April 18th was officially our One Year mark in our home! We spent it rushing to get all of our items out of storage so we don't have to worry about that extra $300 payment every month.

Funny... One Year here and Tyler pulls up in a U-Haul to unload boxes that now clutter my house! *L* It's just like a year ago except better weather (thank goodness!)... I'm sure we're the talk of the hood right now! *L*

Anyhoo.... I just wanted to give you a bit of an update. I may have to extend my blogging pause for a little bit longer then I had hoped so I can spend more time with my family as a complete 'family' for the next few weeks......
And then I'll need to write a lot when Tyler is away from home while I'm going crazy with the girls!
More soon!

Shingles Vs. Wind

So it's a bit windy out here in Leduc....
You probably shouldn't see the "wave" happening with you shingles...
These shingles stuck close to home... Our front yard.
And these ones ended up on our neighbors yard...
Other random crap that is blowing around...
So far we have:
->Retrieved our garabage can from our neighbors deck
->Retrieved a bog of can we had on our neck from our neighbors yard
->Flipped our (very heavy) BBQ back upright
->Retrieved some random persons drian spout part of their eves thingy (from the side of yoru house) from our deck bars. Not sure who it belongs to yet.
-> Had our neighbors on our other side retrieve their grabage can after it stopped itself by hitting into our car.
-> Had shingles (I'm guessing) go down the side of our huge side window above our stairs and scrath the heck out of it (imagine what is happening to my siding!)
-> Had two neighbors at two different times come to let us know that our shingles are in their yard... One is many houses away!
I'll update the list as things happen!

STAIRS here, stairs there.... Stairs everywhere!!!

Yes, it's true!

We have stairs!!!

And railings!

And nicely placed hand prints in our cement!! Geee!!

As you can imagine I was thrilled when the guys from Brookhaven showed up to put our stairs on!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Now all we need is landscaping and the final coat of paint on our doors!

SOOOOOOO close!!!!

(Yes, I just blogged about not having stairs this morning! *L* Check it our if you haven't... Stairs...??!!)

Stairs....??!!

We Have Stairs!!!!!!
Sort of.

Wasn't it nice of whoever delivered them to just drop them onto the city sidewalk? It really does look like they just backed the truck up and dropped them onto the ground... How sweet of them!
And, of course, they did this Friday when we weren't home all day... So we didn't get to call our builder and get them to drive the 2 hours to put them on for us.
Ugh.
Oh! As well... Our builder asked us if we could call them when the stairs arrived since on Thursday they had no idea where they were.... They were to arrive Wednesday.
*LOL*
Maybe I'll be lucky enough to have them attached to my house sometime this week.... Maybe....

Took a Quiz.... Part 2

What Color Style Are You?

Quiz Results:

Energy & Optimism is your color style
Looking outside the box is second nature to you and the colours in your home reflect your adventurous and positive attitude. With your fearless approach to decorating, you are drawn to a palette of bold, fresh hues and are likely to try out new ones at the drop of a hat. Inspired by art and fashion, you choose colors that spur your creativity and provide a daring backdrop for all your contemporary furnishings and unique and fabulous finds.
Huh. Now if only I could USE my strength in this area without backing down of fear first!
My goal for the new year (oh yes, I'm making one!): To follow m design heart as long as it won't kill Tyler while accomplishing it! *L*

PHOTOS!

Okay so they're not photos off of my camera yet (still have to download all the stuff onto the new computer before I can unload all of my photos... And believe me, there's a TON!)...

Anyhoo, these are from my cell (pardon the graininess of the photos... Old cell phone!) and I thought this might (maybe, possibly) be able to hold you over until I get the camera photos on here!

Zoë was in her car seat and we were driving home from our very first grocery trip in Leduc... She reached over, grabbed the middle seat belt and swung it... Smack right into her eye. She had a sweet black eye for awhile! (Just so happened that we had bought frozen veggies! I pulled over and placed those on her eye! *L*)

Along HWY39 (the entrance to our area) this was happening forever and at all hours of the day/night. They're making top soil. The girls loved watching this process! And then to our right (where we would park) they could also watch the sun set!

Hop-A-Long-Daddy-Slipper. The girls invented this neat thing... Each took a 'Daddy Slipper' and placed both of their feet into it. Then they would hop! Hours of fun!

One day we were looking after Brooke-Lyn (a new friend the girls have made from down the street. Brooke-Lyn will start Kindergarten at the same time as Emma. Rebecca-Lyn is Brooke-Lyn's older sister who is already in grade school!) came over while her Mommy went for an interview... We had a great time playing, having lunch and making Father Day's paintings. Zoe got a little bit close to the table looking at Brook-Lyn's picture and ended up wearing the plate of paint! *L* We had a shower right after this (too funny!).

So on Monday the 16th I finally took the girls to the park during the day! *L* Tyler and I brought the girls to this awesome park that is right by a lake and many walking/biking paths here... But there's were too many 'flying bugs' and they ended up screaming and crying. We went home.... *L* Anyways, this day turned out really well... It was SO hot! We played at the park (were actually on our way for groceries...) and then took a walk on the path. Zoë realized just how much she LOVES the swing!
Oh! Remind me to write a blog about the path walk.... CHAOS! Ugh...

This was taken on this cute little bridge Emma found along an "off-side" of the main paths.... That's the lake in the background.... (like you couldn't figure that one out yourselves.... :P)

Last night us girls had dinner on the back deck for the first time ever. Daddy and Uncle Conor had been busy building a deck for a client after Tyler got off work (a very long day for him)... So I was left to find whatever we had in our freezer... The girls loved it! Emma was begging to eat outside (and like I'm going to argue, she didn't care if there were bugs!) so we did! Perogies, Sour Cream, Fresh Dill, Jalapeno Cheese.... Yum!

Tonight I stood on our back deck (okay so I call our back deck just that -or deck- and our front deck the 'Veranda'.... This way you'll not be confused!) and watched this beautiful sunset! I'll be sad when they get around to building Phase 3 (not anytime soon though, Phase 2 isn't even 50% complete! *L*) but will like it when someone else gets hit with the high winds, snow, etc. first! ;)
Here's Zoë after brushing her teeth tonight.... Cute as can be! She had a "wand" that helped her dance... And a magnifying glass to, ya know, see things... *L*
My beautiful Emma under her leaf above her bed... She loves that leaf!

That's all for now.... Hope this will hold you over until I get all of my camera photos onto this new computer!

WE'RE ALIVE!

Just stopping by to let you readers know that we are still alive...
The move went....Well.
My kids and cats LOVE their new home and freedom!
Our new 'hood is wonderful....
But I must get going...
I finally have I-net again... Only took Shaw 2 days to get it hooked up, no help from our builders...
I'll explain our last 12 days in a post later this evening one my little ones are down for the night!
Miss you all!
